What is a Wireless Internet Card And How Does It Work?
A wireless Internet card is a type of adapter card that can improve the computer’s capabilities; in this case connectivity. You can get an Internet card for a desktop, PDA, notebook or even a netbook. The wireless Internet card connects with the WiFi hotspot to gain Internet connection for your computer. The wireless Internet card is small, can be the size of a credit card and it picks up the signal at the WiFi hotspot. If you thus want to browse the Internet at a coffee shop and have a wireless Internet card, it will be a case of just sitting down, switching on the notebook, finding the WiFi, getting permission to connect and you are on. Some holiday places also provide you with a wireless Internet card for such connectivity.

How Do Internet Calls Work?
To make Internet calls (VoIP) your soft phone or phone must be connected to the Internet. It is important to note that while offline, you will not be able to receive or make Internet calls. Number one rule then – be connected and have your status as online. With Internet calls you can phone a normal phone number or you can call someone with a shorter number – when you make use of the same VoIP service provider. The computer software will then send a message that a call is made and the number is dialled. Once the other user answers you will communicate via a microphone which can be connected to your pc or the normal phone.

Cable Internet refers to Internet access via the use of the cable television architecture. Cable Internet is fast broadband Internet access. The Internet connectivity is thus via the existing telephone network. Used mainly in the USA for residential Internet access, cable Internet access is under pressure from competitor connectivity via wireless and satellite networks. A cable modem is needed at client premises plus a cable operator that has a specific cable modem termination system. Connection between the two is obtained by means of coaxial cable, from there the name cable Internet access. Hubs of cable modem termination systems are often used to improve access management.
