How Does the Dial-up Connection Work?
A dial-up connection to the Internet is less popular today than five years ago simply because wireless technology and broadband have brought about fast connectivity. A dial-up connection simply means that a person connects to the Internet via a landline. The dial-up connection consists of computer plus modem plus landline and then finally also Internet access which is obtained from an Internet access provider. The modem sends the signal from the pc to the landline which then connects with the modem at the Internet access provider via a landline. Dial-up connect is slower than any of the other methods of connecting to the Internet. Instead of paying for bandwidth used, you pay for the time connected. It is still a fine option for someone who only sends and receives emails once daily and on occasion needs to do something on the Internet. If you plan heavy browsing then it is not the way to connect.
