NEDA Telecommunications are the leading ISPS Internet Service Providers in Afghanistan. Neda Telecommunications was established in May 2003 and was one of the first Internet Service Providers to be granted a licence by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Afghanistan. It has over the years become the leading ISP and WISP in the country. The operation has grown from offering basic dial-up to now carrying over 30 Mbps on its networks. Neda Telecommunications has established itself in most major cities and has plans to extend further. We currently offer services on 6 different satellites and are the only ISP to offer internet services through wireless, VSAT, dial-up and CDMA. At the end of the 2001 war in Afghanistan the country’s infrastructure had all been but destroyed. For those companies wanting to take advantage of the lack of internet they found they were faced with a country where the nation’s network of telephone lines was left barely functioning. In the capital city of Kabul, with a population of almost 2 million, there were only 12 000 telephone lines. Internet service providers in Afghanistan have had to invest heavily over the years to try and get the country’s communication system and infrastructure back up and running and to a standard that could reliably handle internet services.
